by Philip Choo - 11/02/2008

"Some very interesting information on the do's and dont's when sending your resume over the email for the application of a job. Especially for overseas postings."

Do's:
- Use a proper and tested format
- Use Words document
- Insert your latest, unedited pictures in your resume
- State your experiences in detail, including employment dates, functions, responsibilities
- Elaborate on your past working experiences and highlight your achievements
- Include personal details, hobbies, strengths
- Include a proper header and the job you are applying for in your email
- Introduce yourself professionally in the email. Make short and direct to the point
- Follow the advertised job's instructions when applying
- Be realistic on the expected salary
- Please check your emails constantly for employer's reply if you are shortlisted. If you are using Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, (Free mails) please check your 'spam' folder or place employer's domain name, such as "blueoceanjobs.com" in your "white list"

Dont's
- Do not email to "multiple" employers at the same time
- Do not forward your resume from those previously sent to another employer
- Do not include pictures that are too revealing or not professional
- Do not use email with names that are not professional; such as "i_love_u@hotmail.com" (example only)
- Never ask someone else to apply/ enquire for a job on your behalf
